This work is a response to travelling through the wonderful red landscape of the iron ore rich Pilbara region of Western Australia. Not content to produce a mere painted view of topographical detail, I played with the internal tension between perceptual and conceptual imagery; to convey both the ties that bind us and to the land and our ambivalent relationship with its vastness, colour and ‘otherworldliness’.
